The National Judgment Writing Competition 2025 is being organized by the Centre of Legal Education, Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta Institute of Professional Studies (ADGIPS), New Delhi, in collaboration with BBD University, Lucknow.

ADGIPS, formerly known as ADGITM, was established in 2003 by the BBD Educational Society, Lucknow. The institution, approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI) and affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), is a premier legal education hub in Delhi offering full-time undergraduate and postgraduate programs in law, management, and technology.

The Centre of Legal Education (CLE) at ADGIPS, founded in 2022, aims to evolve and impart interdisciplinary legal learning that promotes the constitutional ideals of justice, liberty, and equality. The Centre emphasizes innovation in legal education through moot courts, case studies, seminars, debates, and legal aid initiatives. It also runs a Legal Aid Clinic to advance social justice and awareness.

With a faculty of experienced legal professionals and academicians, ADGIPS continues to provide law students a platform to explore practical skills like research, advocacy, judgment writing, and policy analysis, which makes this Judgment Writing Competition a perfect opportunity for aspiring jurists and litigators.

About the Opportunity

The National Judgment Writing Competition 2025 offers participants the unique experience of stepping into the shoes of a judge. Hosted by ADGIPS (Centre of Legal Education), this event encourages students to combine legal reasoning, critical analysis, and judicial writing to craft well-structured judgments.

The competition’s theme focuses on Contract Law and Law of Torts, challenging students to analyze facts, identify issues, interpret laws, and deliver reasoned decisions. Participants will receive a factual matrix and must draft a judgment within the prescribed time limit.

The competition seeks to instill the virtues of objectivity, fairness, and legal precision—qualities essential for any budding lawyer or judicial aspirant. By writing judgments rather than pleadings, participants enhance their ability to interpret precedents, apply statutory principles, and articulate legal reasoning effectively.
