About the Centre

The Gujarat National Law University (GNLUS) Silvassa Campus, established in July 2023, aims to provide quality legal education in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. The campus focuses on skill development, professional growth, and career opportunities for students of the UT.

The Centre for Constitutional and Administrative Law (CCAL) at GNLUS, founded on 15th August 2023, is dedicated to promoting the study of constitutional and administrative law, which is crucial for the just governance of a democratic society.


About the Competition

The National Public Interest Litigation (PIL) Drafting Competition is designed for law students to demonstrate their legal research and drafting skills by preparing impactful PIL petitions. This competition encourages participants to critically engage with contemporary socio-legal issues, interpret constitutional mandates, and develop arguments for the protection of public interest.

Through drafting PILs, participants will:

  • Enhance analytical reasoning and legal research skills.
  • Gain experience in precise and effective legal drafting.
  • Develop a deeper understanding of constitutional remedies.
  • Strengthen clarity in legal argumentation and communication.

Eligibility

  • Open to all law students enrolled in undergraduate (LL.B.) or postgraduate (LL.M.) programs at any recognized institution, college, or university in India.
  • Participation can be individual or in teams of two members.
  • Cross-institutional teams are not permitted.

General Guidelines

  • The competition will be conducted according to rules outlined by the Organising Committee (OC).
  • Any updates or changes will be communicated via email.

Registration Details

  • Deadline to register: 20th November 2025
  • Registration Fee: ₹100 for single participants, ₹150 for two-member teams (excluding GST).
  • Payments must be made via the Payment Link provided on the official page.
  • After registration, participants will receive a confirmation email with submission guidelines and a unique team code.
  • All future correspondence with the OC must include the Team Code.

Important Dates:

  • Opening of Registrations – 20th October 2025
  • Closing of Registrations – 20th November 2025
  • Last Date for Clarifications – 25th November 2025
  • Release of Clarifications – 30th November 2025
  • Submission of PIL Draft – 5th January 2026

Awards & Recognition

The total prize pool for the competition is ₹45,000, distributed as follows:

  • Winner: ₹20,000 + E-Certificate of Merit
  • 1st Runner-Up: ₹15,000 + E-Certificate of Merit
  • 2nd Runner-Up: ₹10,000 + E-Certificate of Merit
  • Best Identification of Legal Issues: E-Certificate of Recognition
  • Top 5 Submissions: E-Certificate of Excellence
  • All Participants: E-Certificate of Participation
