Dr. Rohini Kanta Barua Law College, a premier legal education institution in Northeast India, is celebrating its 50th anniversary. About the Competition

To mark Human Rights Day 2025, the College is organizing a National Level Article Writing Competition aimed at encouraging students to explore contemporary human rights issues. This competition offers law students an opportunity to reflect on the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century in human rights while enhancing their legal writing, research, and analytical skills.

Human Rights in the 21st Century: Emerging Challenges and Opportunities

  • Digital Privacy, AI, and Human Rights
  • Climate-Induced Migration and Human Rights
  • Right to Health and Access to Healthcare
  • Human Rights During Armed Conflicts
  • Refugees, Migrants, and Rights of Displaced Persons
  • Gender Equality and Rights of Vulnerable Groups
  • Human Rights in the Gig and Platform Economy
  • Human Rights and Aging Populations
  • Human Rights and Economic Justice
  • Transgender Rights and Human Dignity

Eligibility

  • Open to students enrolled in UGC-recognized institutions pursuing 3-year or 5-year LL.B. courses or LL.M. programs.
  • Individual participation only; co-authorship is not allowed.

Rules & Regulations

  • Articles must be original work and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • Similarity index should be below 10%.
  • Each article must include an abstract (≤250 words) and 4–5 keywords.
  • Word limit: 5,000 words, excluding footnotes, abstracts, and keywords.
  • Footnotes are allowed but must not exceed 25% of the main text.
  • Articles must not contain defamatory content or comments on pending court cases.
  • Copyright of the articles will transfer to the College upon submission.
  • Judges’ decisions are final; the organizers will not entertain disputes.

Formatting Guidelines

  • Title: Times New Roman, 12 pt, bold, central alignment, capitalized, 1.5 line spacing
  • Level 1 Heading: Bold, justified, 12 pt, Times New Roman, 1.5 line spacing
  • Level 2 Heading: Bold, italics, justified, 12 pt, Times New Roman, 1.5 line spacing
  • Level 3 Heading: Italics, justified, 12 pt, Times New Roman, 1.5 line spacing
  • Body: Times New Roman, 12 pt, justified, 1.5 line spacing
  • Footnotes: Times New Roman, 10 pt, single spacing, justified
  • Footnote Style: OSCOLA 4th edition only

How to Register and Submit

  • Registration is mandatory before submission via the Google Form link provided below.
  • A valid institutional ID is required.
  • Only one submission per participant is allowed.
  • Submissions must be in Word document format.
  • Articles should not contain the author’s name, institution, or personal details.
  • Submission deadline: 25th November 2025, 23:59 IST
  • The submission link will be shared only with registered participants.
